Remix Weeks Summary

Movie Trailer Mashup

Using Recycled Media

Remix week was probably my least favorite week of the whole semester of ds106. While I think remixes are great and can lead to some awesome stuff, I mean how great was that buffy meets edward cullen video?, I just don’t enjoy creating them. Remixes were probably some of the most tedious things to come up with as far as ideas as well as production. I also felt like some previous assignments fell in to this category and that we had been remixing things all semester, so why have a special section for it at the end? I don’t know, I just did not like these past couple of weeks.

Anyway, remixes themselves are awesome. Once again the buffy meets edward cullen video and Star Wars sings Call Me Maybe videos are great and obviously took a lot of time and love to create. The Disney Used to explain Copyright video shown below explained a lot in a remixed way about copyright and how it applies to remixes.

After 14 years a copyright dies because you can’t put a monoply on an idea. How much sense does that make? Quite a bit I think. Don’t they say imitation is the greatest form of flattery? And even if someone gets a great idea from someone else, as long as they make it their own what does it matter? I think people have way too much pride and should learn to get over themselves and appreciate a good thing when they see it. That’s what I have to say about remixes and copyright.
